Grandmom’s famous cornbread recipe from family dinners
Ingredients
| 3/4 cup | yellow cornmeal | |
| 1 cup | flour | |
| 1/3 cup | sugar | |
| 1 1/2 tsp | baking powder | |
| 1/2 tsp | salt | |
| 1 cup | milk | |
| 2 | eggs, well beaten | |
| 2 tbsp | melted shortening, or bacon fat |
Preheat oven to 425 degrees fahrenheit
Grease 8 in. square cake pan
Mix flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt in large bowl
Add milk, eggs, shortening, or bacon fat and blend well
Spoon into pan and bake for 20 min. Cool and cut into squares
For corn muffins, thoroughly grease muffin pan and pour into cups about 3/4 full. Serves 12 muffins
