Luciana’s recipe for buttermilk vanilla cake
Ingredients for Cake
| 1/2 cup | unsalted butter | |
| 1 cup | sugar | |
| 2 | large eggs | |
| 2 cups | cake flour (Presto) | |
| 1 tsp | salt | |
| 1 1/4 cup | buttermilk | |
| 2 tsp | vanilla extract |
Ingredients for Frosting
| 1 1/2 cup | butter, softened | |
| 6 cups | powdered sugar | |
| 1 tsp | vanilla extract | |
| 2 tsp | buttermilk |
Preheat oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit
Cream the butter and sugar, then add eggs one at a time, beating each
In another bowl, mix and sift flour, baking powder, and salt
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet, alternately adding in the buttermilk
Mix in vanilla extract
Divide batter into 2 cake pans
Bake for 25 mins, or until the edges are golden brown
Allow cakes to cool in pans for ~30 mins
